All is well part 2 :-)

Here's some pics of my fish:

My lovely Mandarin (doing very well, nice & fat)

Peek-a-boo!! :-D

Everything is still going well :-)

Since I've added the new sand & green chromis, everything is going really well. Every one is happy :-)

I did however notice that my Asterina population is getting out of control. Asterinas are really small little starfish, good guys. But if they get out of control, they can start to smother some corals.
Here's one on the glass:

Close up:

There's to many to remove by hand, so I got some Harlequin shrimps that eats star fish. These guys are still small, nothing bigger that a 5pence piece. But gorgeous!!! Click on the photos to enlarge:

And here they are with their 1st dinner in my tank!! :-D Click on the photos to enlarge - I've circled the asterina:

Changing the look of My Tank

After some advice I decided to change my sandbed and clean my back glass. I've also added some lovely blue & purple gorgonians and 6 green chromis.

Taking out my old sand bed:

Here I've started to add the new sand:

Now I have to wait for the cloudiness to settle. After a couple of hours:

This morning, after I cleaned as much of the back glass I could reach:

Update...

Time for an update. Since I've had the tank I decided that I will let nature take it's course with the back & right hand side glass. It's not so nice & clean anymore, but I think it's maturing nicely...

I also have to new corals. One leather & one frogspawn:

Finished Stand:
I've also made something to cover my metal frame. Not sure if I like it yet. The varnish is a bit dark I think.
It's nothing special, just something to cover the frame & to have easy access. It's a bad pic of the tank, full flash & reflection, but it's just to show the 'stand'. Well, at least all the equipment are hidden.

New Tank Build...part 2

The past weekend was the big tank move. Monday was bank holiday, so I got a few friends over to help move the tank indoors. I stipped the old tank on Sunday & the new one took it's place Monday. It was a lot of hard work, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I have to admit, I think planning it all the best you can helps a lot.
All that is left for me to do is the final aquascaping & building a cover for the stand.

Last pic of the old tank...

Water going in...

New tank!!! The blue colour is due to the blue actinic lights beign on when I took the pictures. Watch this space for updated pics!...

New Tank Build!!

I'm in the process of upgrading to a 4x2x2ft.
Here's the stand, ready to be painted:

The tank has arrived:

And here's the tank on the stand. The back of the tank & the stand has been painted. We've also started to sort out the sump, plumbing & we're building a hood for the lights.
